Our daddy received a trip from his company to Vail, Colorado for all his hard work. We were excited about going but weren't look forward to the ten hour drive with a two year old and a nine month old. But we loaded the car and hit the road.
On Wednesday we made it to Vail and took it easy the rest of the day. We did go find ice cream that night in Lionshead. That was the start of our nightly tradition of getting a cone.
Lucy posed nicely for mama.
While the kids had their naptime, Quincy rented a bike and rode it down the mountain a couple of times. It seems like the thing to do in Vail. Everyone is on their bikes. Quincy bikes every morning on a stationary bike but said that was nothing compared to going down the mountain. He said he only crashed once when he was trying to put his phone back in his pocket. Luckily he wasn't going fast.
We (by that I mean me) wanted a perfect family picture with our family at the top. This is about the 12th attempt and second time up the mountain. It still has a wiggly two year old in it. Oh well.

The next day we drove to the top of the Rockies at 12,095 feet. It was freezing up there and still had snow patches.

We grabbed lunch in a little place called Aspen and then headed to the Grotos. There we tried to hike with both of the kids. Jensen didn't like being in the backpack very much but after awhile he feel asleep and woke up happy. We were trying to find a waterfall and a snowcave. We were struggling. We could hear the waterfall but just couldn't figure out how to get there. Finally we headed back and asked a fisherman. He said the waterfall was down this other path about 30 yards. Well, we got our exercise for the day anyway.

The last day we headed to Vail Village to see what they had for the kids.

Later that night we let Jensen play on the grass while we enjoyed the cool weather. We both weren't excited to go back to the Las Vegas heat. Jensen kept himself entertained by watching the bikers on the bike path. He even pulled a "Big Daddy" trick and threw a rock on the path.

We found really cold splash pads for Jensen. It was water from the river I swear. He warmed up to it and didn't want to leave.
We also found this pirate ship park for them to play on. It was complete with a crow's nest and a plank.
