Big Girl Bed

Since our little girl just seems to be growing up lately we decided it was time for her to get a new big girl bed. She has been sleeping in a pack n' play for way too long. I joked with Quincy that maybe she was like a fish in an aquarium and if she slept in that small thing any longer she would stay small forever.

I have been hunting on Craig's List for awhile and last Wednesday we found a winner. I can already feel the itch to spray paint it.

Red?!

Lucy has done pretty good staying in her big girl bed. A couple of bribes helped. Like you can have ice cream when you wake up from your nap or we can go to the park tomorrow if you stay in bed tonight. She does still like to have every toy, stuffed animal and book that she can on her bed. It's amazing she even finds a place to sleep after she piles it all on.

Every time when we go check on her we find her in a new sleeping position. She really provides us with good entertainment!

Crushin' on Owls

It's no secret around here that I have a little crush on feathered friends. It seems like every card I want to make has an owl on it. But I try to space them out so they don't kick me out of the card club for overdosing on owls.

My mom saved me this owl that my niece made at school. I fell in love with this sad little guy. It's made out of a toilet paper roll and construction paper. So for one of my first projects on my new cameo I came up with this.

I thought it would be a cute little Valentine with a pillow box instead of a toilet paper roll. Then today as I was just finishing them up I saw that they are in the Silhouette Online Store. Oh well for original ideas. They are overrated right?!

Now to fill them up with goodies!

Our Big Sunbeam

Jensen's First Sunday as a Sunbeam
This big boy is a Sunbeam if you can believe it. He hasn't been taking it too well though. When we remind him that church is coming up he says "No" or "All Done".  Jensen loves routines and the transition from playing and eating snacks for two hours to sitting on a chair listening to a lesson isn't the easiest thing to get used to. Can't really blame him. The past couple of weeks Quincy or I have been sitting in his class with him. He does fine with us in there but if we even think about leaving him, he cries. He has a very sweet older lady for his teacher Sister Bailey. But this week he had a substitute which ended up being a familiar face to Jensen. A Mom that does the Zumba/babysitting co-op with me. She was such a big help to him and us. She said bring him in and drop him off which I did. (I felt like I had already been through this two years ago dropping him off in the nursery. I can't believe that we are repeating it again.) I hung outside his classroom and I could hear him crying but he stopped after a couple of minutes. She's good or maybe it was the lucky tie that he wore (see below). He stayed the whole time with her and he even came out of sharing time smiling and with a new CTR ring. We'll see how it goes next week with his normal teacher, but at least we know he is capable. Plus he has already been assigned to give the scripture and prayer next week.

Side note: Jensen loves wearing ties to church just like his daddy. He has a couple but I I have been wanting to make him a tie for a year now to match his sister's skirt that I made. I kept looking for an easy tie pattern which I was about to give up on until I went to my new Internet love Pinterest. Typed in little boy tie patterns and this one popped up. It was super easy and I made it before Olivia was even over.

First week Jensen went to Sunbeams all by himself.

 Yay for Sunbeams!

"Mommy, I Went Pee Pee in the Potty"

"Mommy, I Went Pee Pee in the Potty"
This is music to my ears hearing Lucy say this. What else can I say but this has been a long process for this little girl. We started back in October and thought the potty-training-in-three-days method would really only take three days. I hear ya laughing! Four months later I think Lucy has finally got it. I haven't had to clean up a mess from her all week (I know I'm not out of the woods completely, but small steps). Jensen got it in a month but he is older and more mature as Olivia would say. I have to say this is the hardest thing I've had to do as a Mom yet. Well, I did hate taking Jensen to get circumcised a week after he was born but at least that only lasted 15 minutes compared to four whole months. I want to say this better be the toughest thing in the parenting department that I will ever have to do, but I know better. I think Lucy will make me gray before she even hits her teens.

She is one silly girl when it comes to using the potty. She prefers to use the training potty still which isn't bad except she likes to dump her waste herself. She scares me with it. She slops it around and yeah you get the picture. I mop that floor at least ten times a day. She also likes the door shut so she can have her privacy even though she can't open the door to let herself out. After she goes she has to have a new pair of princess underwear even if her old ones are still clean. She loves to get praise for going. You can even catch us doing the potty dance for her sometimes. If we are busy and she goes by herself she comes strutting out of the bathroom and makes sure she announces to us that she went pee pee in the potty so she can receive a high five for her efforts. The other night when I was getting Jensen ready for bed, I heard Lucy clapping in the bathroom. She was supposed to be brushing her teeth but instead she was cheering on her daddy for going pee pee in the potty. I guess she likes to pass on the enthusiasm.

Side note: Today at church Lucy's nursery teacher told her to put her shoes on or she would start wearing them. Lucy told her, "No, you're too old!" I think I see a gray hair now.
