U-N-L-V Rebels!

Last week we hit the Scarlet and Gray Scrimmage at the Thomas and Mack. We were due for an outing as a family and it was a hit. Pregame they had a bounce house and other things for the kids to do. Jensen was all over that. He would get kicked out and would go right back in. Since Lucy prefers to bounce by herself she just hung out with her cool parents.

 

Both kids were really afraid of the giant rebel that was walking around. After pointing out that other kids were getting their picture taken with him Lucy finally agreed to have a photo taken. On one condition, that I hold her. When I tried to get Jensen in the shot he totally ran away. There was no talking him into a picture.

 Kev and his boys and Mike Kanet and his girls showed up to join in the fun. All the other wifers some how got a free pass from the game. What?

 Jensen finally got close to one of the walking balloon men. He still wouldn't go in front of the Rebel though. Christmas card shot blown.

 

 

Since the whole event was open to the public we could sit anywhere we wanted to. We took up a whole row and let the kids enjoy moving from seat to seat. 

 

These two boys were crazy men. Laughing, screaming, and even dancing during the whole program. 

 The night consisted of player introductions, dunk contest, the Legends game, and then the UNLV team scrimmage. Looks like we are going to have a good team this year.

 

We are so glad Mike came prepared with his ipad for the kids to play with or we would have been out of there sooner. Let's just say Ellie was a popular girl, wherever she went two would follow.

We did make it to the end of the game. Lucy decided to wave good-bye to everyone while we were getting ready to leave. Maybe she can be a UNLV usher someday. Earlier when I had asked her if she wanted to be a cheerleader or a basketball player, she said basketball player. She made her parents smile.

 

It's crazy to think that Dantley will be down on the court next year.

We can't wait to support him!

 

Lucy has loved a certain Little Mermaid doll for pretty much her whole life. It was one I got when I was a girl and saved. One day I gave it to her and she hasn't got bored with it yet. She can't travel or sleep without it. So when we were thinking what type of party to throw for her birthday this year we knew a mermaid party was a pretty easy choice.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We served star sandwiches along with green grapes, goldfish crackers, and blue Gatorade for lunch in purple buckets. For dessert we had blue jello cups with a Swedish fish floating inside. These were a huge hit.

 

 

Jensen was a good brother and hung out with the girls for the party.

 

 

While the girls were eating we helped them make a sea shell bracelet. Ellie the oldest girl to attend made her own without any help.

 

 

 

 

For one of the games we dug in the sand box for sea shells. Quincy and I  had filled the sand box with sand earlier this week. But thanks to the rain we got, it turned into a big mud pit. Luckily, we had some extra dry sand for the girls to play in.

 

 

Next we went fishing for mermaid duckies. On the bottom they had numbers written on them. Whatever number they scooped up they received that many Swedish fish to eat. Our pool must have a small leak in it because I kept having Quincy fill it up and there was hardly any water in it when we went to play.

 

 

Next we played limbo as we heard songs from the Little Mermaid soundtrack. I only got video of this and am so glad I did. These girls were cracking us up!

 

Lastly, we tried mermaid, mermaid, shark. My house is just so small there wasn't a great place to play this game. But we gave it a good try.

 

 

Lucy requested cupcakes and I attempted a mermaid tail out of dipping chocolate. I was pleasantly surprised that all of the girls liked them.

 

 

 

We sang to Lucy and then she opened presents blue tongue and all.

 

 

These were the party favors. Lucy's favorite human things: chapstick and nail polish.

Lucy Turns Three

On Lucy's birthday we celebrated by taking the kids to a pumpkin patch. She was having a friend party later but we knew we should do something fun on her real birthday. So to the pumpkin patch we went. It was a hit last year so why not again this year?

 

 

 

We petted farm animals.

 

 

Went down the slides. We weren't sure if Lucy would go down the slide this year, but she surprised us and went down. What a difference a year makes.

 

 

Went on rides.

 

 

 

 

Jumped in the jump house.

 

 

Lucy cried when her brother jumped with her.

 

 

So she jumped on the stairs while Jensen jumped inside.

 

 

Then she got brave again and bounced with Jensen.

 

 

Tried to pose for pictures but got the wiggles.

 

 

 

After we headed to Red Robin for dinner. The workers came and sang to Lucy. She got shy and hid behind me a little bit but liked the ice cream they gave her.

 

 

We sure love our three year old!

 

 

Later that night we Skyped Grandma and Grandpa Knudsen so they could watch her open her presents. This was fun and we better make that a tradition too!

Lex Got Married

Quincy's niece Alexa got married to Tim on October 5th. This summer she had asked Dianna and I to help with the decorations. We said of course but little did I know that I was going to get a new job that didn't allow me to help as much as I wanted to. Good thing Di is a natural wedding planner since she did most of the decor and it turned out awesome.

 

Lex was a beautiful bride and the whole night turned out wonderful except for my pictures. I think Lucy has been very helpful putting some new setting on my camera. Here are a few that did turn out.

 

 

 

 

Di and I made 20 of these little pomander balls. They only took our whole labor day to make, but they made the aisle look fabulous and that is what we were going for of course.

 

 

 

Di made this huge picture for them from one of those engineer prints that you see people use on Pinterest. It was fabulous too! I was asked to make some banners for the wedding. I guess it is my specialty.

 

 

 

 

After a delicious dinner we hit the dance floor to show off our moves. Kev didn't disappoint with the worm and some weird fist pump that he does in every picture. Brittany even came from D.C. for the party. It was a great night with great memories for sure.
