Hulk and Jasmine

I feel like every post I write starts off with its been awhile and this time of course is no different. I wanted to catch up on what has been going on with the family. For the month of October this year I wanted to be a fun mom but it just didn't happen. With being in the last month of my pregnancy fun seemed like a lost cause. Jensen's school had a trunk or treat two weeks before Halloween. I felt sick that night so we stayed home. We did venture out to see Dantley play in the Scarlet and Gray scrimmage at the Thomas and Mack, but that seemed to do me in and I couldn't even walk for a few days after. So I have to say I was pretty lame this Halloween season. We didn't even carve the pumpkins on our porch. Totally lame I know. I did have a surge of energy the day before Halloween and we made it to our ward's trunk or treat. I even made chili for the event. Quincy showed me just how much he loved me by wearing a milk man costume with me being a house wife. (Quincy said he is picking next year, could be trouble). The kids chose their costumes this year. Lucy has known that she wanted to be Jasmine for quite some time. Jensen had many options but settled on the Hulk. On Halloween, Lucy got to wear her costume to preschool while Jensen was not able to wear his to school at all. Here are some pictures of our October. Little did we know that an unexpected Trick or Treater would show up on Halloween. More on that in the next post.

We stuck around after to have all the players sign posters. Quincy made me laugh by making sure that they were hung up in the kid's rooms.

Quincy got a little star struck with Anderson Hunt who was the MVP of the final four in 1990.

 

 

Jensen is starting to have his love of the game from his Daddy. He cheered for the Cardinals even though we clothe him in Red Sox gear. I think we have another sports fan in the home.

Elder Walker is HOME!

 

Elder Walker came home from his LDS mission this past weekend. Didn't that go fast! He has to be back for summer school so he can play basketball for UNLV in the fall. Dantley flew into the new St. George airport. We decided to make a weekend out of it since his welcome home was Sunday and we didn't want to do a lot of driving with the two kiddos. Grandma and Grandpa Haworth were sad to miss it so I faced-time them so they could watch him from Iowa.

Side note: So I am 21 weeks here in this picture. Half way done! A few weeks before this we had our ultra sound and it ended up that the whole family was there with me. I didn't cave though. I kept strong and said don't tell us what we were having. We have talked about not knowing for a long time but when it came down to it I kind of wanted to know.  I think I drove the ultra sound physician nutty because we were on the fence and she was like do you want to know or not?

After the airport we headed to Golden Corral to eat dinner. Lets just say the kids ate a little dinner and a lot of dessert.

 

 

 

 

 

After dinner we headed back to the hotel to swim. Jensen was in heaven. He loves to stay in hotels and swim. Lucy took over my camera and captured his big smile. Or maybe it was all that sugar that was causing these big smiles.

 

 

Saturday we hit the new Monsters movie with the cousins. Pretty decent. Then we took the kids to the dinosaur tracks museum. None of us had ever been there before. Kind of cool that they were digging and found them in the soil in St. George. Kids didn't fully appreciate it but we still had a good time.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

After the museum we had a refreshing lunch at Red Robin and then a quick visit to the St. George temple. Man it was hot. I was thinking we were lucky to get out of Vegas for the hottest weekend of the year but I don't think George was too much different. Both kids didn't participate too well at the visitor's center and we knew it was time to return to the hotel for a rest and swim.  

 

 

 

Sunday Dantley gave an awesome missionary report. He gave a Walker traditional top ten about what he learned on his mission. Luckily, he didn't embarrass anyone with his. After a yummy lunch we headed back home to the Vegas 117 degree heat. I had to remind myself no snow storms in Vegas, that is why I live here.

Farewell Dantley

Last Sunday we said farewell to our nephew/cousin Dantley. He left on Wednesday (August 3rd) into the MTC to serve a two year mission. He isn't quite nineteen yet but was allowed to go early since he has a scholarship waiting for him.

I sure have enjoyed watching this kid grow up. When I came into the family he was twelve and I was just a little taller than him. That's when the brothers let me play basketball with them since I was a semi equal match-up. I also will never let Dantley forget that Quincy and I beat him and one of his friend in hoops back then. Now he towers over me and I don't dare get worked by him on the court. It would not be good for my ego.

I am so grateful for Dantley and his choice to serve and put the Lord first before basketball in his life. When he was heading to the temple to get his endowments out he got a call from Dave Rice the UNLV coach. He asked him if he wanted to put his mission off for a year and play ball this fall. Dantley told him no and that he would see him when he got back. What a wonderful example he is to Jensen and all of his other cousins.

These two are more like brothers than Uncle and Nephew.

These two cousins showed up in their matching dresses. Di and I didn't even plan it, we're just that good. They looked so cute in all their ruffles running around the gym at the luncheon after.

After the luncheon and all the tables were cleared, the boys couldn't help themselves shoot around with Dantley one last time. I have to say the brothers got worked by Dantley in the three point shoot out. That wasn't too good on their egos either.

They even kept playing when everyone turned the lights out on them. They just wanted to get as much in as they could. And who can blame them?

Panaca Overnighter

This guy graduated in Panaca a couple of weekends ago. Dantley already has his mission call to Spokane, Washington and leaves in August. He gets to leave a couple of months before he actually turns 19 since he is coming back to play basketball for the Rebels. It was one of the shortest graduations I have ever been to with not even 40 graduates. One of the benefits of living in a small town.

Since they were all together for the graduation they planned a boys weekend. That meant fishin' and home run derby time while I hung out with the sis-in-laws and kiddos. We all enjoyed our stay up there. Of course we hit R Place for the best shakes and burritos in Nevada. The kids even had fun at our stop.

Just when we thought R Place couldn't get any better, the kids discovered that the horsey rides were free. They all kept taking turns while our shakes were getting made.

11 o'clock News

My computer was declared "toast" by our computer guy/friend/neighbor. Hopefully we get a new one soon but I just wanted to blog this real fast on Quincy's work computer.

Lucy was on the 11 o'clock local news last night. In case you missed it check this out (wait for the commerical) . It's all thanks to her famous cousin Dantley Walker. We are so proud of him and just can't wait to see him in Rebel Red!

Lost Basketball Pics

My new camera is being shipped as we speak. Happy day! I am really getting sick of all the mental pictures I have been taking lately. No offense Jim and Pam, but it just isn't working for me. Like how I painted my front room with vaulted ceilings the prettiest tan color or the new Honda Pilot that we just got. Okay those things didn't happen but that is not the point. I wouldn't be able to document them even if they did happen. So I can't wait to have my left arm back.

I got back the SD card that survived the Lincoln highway this past weekend. Here are some of the basketball pics that I thought were gone forever. For some reason I can't get the videos to work. Serious issues.
