Meet Lucy

(My crafty neighbor and friend, Marian, made this cute banner for her!)

Lucy Jane Walker
was born October 8, 2009 at 12:51 p.m. She weighed 6 lbs. 14 oz. and was 20 in. long. Lucy had to go to NICU after birth since she had lots of fluid in her lungs and wasn't breathing well on her own. She was able to return to the normal nursery after 2 hours and then she was able to be with her Mama for the rest of her hospital stay.

Mommy and Lucy came home yesterday from the hospital. Jensen was very excited to meet his new sister since he wasn't able to be with her at the hospital (darn swine flu scare)! Lucy even brought home with her a new toy for Jensen. He loves it and is working on sharing the attention with his new baby sister.

Baby Girl Tradition

A couple of weekends ago my mom and dad came to visit me and it was wonderful
to have them here. They showed up with this. . .

. . . a Moses basket with lots of goodies inside! It was so fun to open all those pink treasures. Quincy says our little girl is already taking over our closet. I tell my bump, “good girl!”

My mom found this Moses basket many, many years ago and has been storing it in her garage. She was just waiting for me to have a girl of my own to use it. I’m glad it survived all those years.
See, I was raised in one myself. It was my basinet, car seat, and stroller when I was a baby. Can you believe that my mom would just keep me in this to ride in the car? Thank goodness there are car seats now.

So I couldn’t let this tradition go to waste. I went to the fabric store and couldn’t decided what to get. I was thinking my typical black and white and maybe red but there really is a lot of cute fabric to choose from. When it came down to it, I fell in love with this pack of fat quarters.

Anyway, after two days of sewing, this is what I came up with. I actually made two bumpers so it could be used in the crib later.

I now feel like such a good mama this pregnancy. Jensen came early last time and we hadn’t even bought his crib or car seat. So this little girl that is coming three weeks from today {or earlier if she is like her big brother} will at least have somewhere to sleep.

Jensen Has Something to Say

Well we proved that old wives tale false 'that you can't get pregnant while nursing', not that we were standing by that method. The nurse practitioner even said that there was only a 5% chance that it could happen. We are expecting a new little baby in our house October 16, 2009. I am ten weeks along and I am patiently waiting to get through the first trimester. Quincy and I were very shocked at first but we both realized that we aren't getting any younger and are excited for our family to keep growing.
