It's that time of year again for the Clark County Fair out in Logandale. The kids were pumped this year to go out and ride rides and be with the cousins. Quincy and I even noticed that we enjoyed it a little bit more just because they were into it. We decided we better get out there Thursday and enjoy the nice day because the weather for the weekend didn't look too good. We spent almost the whole time letting the kids (mostly Jensen) ride the rides. Lucy didn't want to play along too much. I can't believe what a scaredy-cat she is. She did ride some of the rides but didn't get her money's worth on her unlimited ride pass. We kept saying we should give it to some other kid.
Right when we got there, Jensen found his cousins and went on his first ride. He didn't quite grasp the idea of waiting in lines. He would just bypass everyone in line until he got to the front. He is so little and determined that the other kids didn't stop him.
He went on this one the most. He loved it.
Lucy did go on a couple. Later she said the swings were her favorite.
Jensen would just laugh and smile on every ride. People would stop and say how happy he is. He was.
We stopped and took a break from the rides to play in the kids area. Jensen got quite a kick of out this mirror and his big head.
Cousins excited to see each other.
The break didn't last long. We had to get our money's worth out of the ride passes.
Plus the Slightings, a family from our ward, showed up so we started another round on the rides.
Just when we thought Lucy was getting over her fear we put her on a kid's roller coaster. It was a little bumpy and by the second lap she was crying and scared. We were all laughing. By the fourth lap she had had enough and started to get out of her seat. The carnie worker had to stop the ride and reverse it slowly back to the loading dock. That was the end of the rides for her.
Jensen did get in trouble with one of the carnie workers. He exited one of the rides on the wrong side which took him into the middle of the ride. He was walking around on the tarp trying to find an exit. I was busy talking and didn't notice what was going on. The carnie had to come and fetch him. He wasn't too happy with either one of us. We didn't ride that ride again.
This picture just explains how much this kid enjoyed being at the fair.
To top it off we ended the night with an ice cream cone.
Day two was more low key thank goodness. My legs were worn out from standing at all the rides the day before. We watched Shelbi show her lamb. She did such a good job. She placed 5th in market.
After, we enjoyed more ice cream and snow cones.
The highlight of the day was when Grandma Haworth paid for all the grand kids to go on the bungee trampolines. Jensen loved it last year and loved it again this year. I thought he might start doing flips he loved it so much. Maybe next year?
We put Lucy up on the tramps but she just wanted to jump by herself. Then she saw that her cousin Demsie was jumping on the other tramp so she got over her fear and said she would do it.
Of course she loved it too!
We finished just in time. It started raining right after. We hurried and indulged our yearly carnie food cravings and then called it a day.
Grandma Haworth with 9 of her 25 grand kids (and 1 son).
Day three we hit the animal barns while the auction was going on.
The kids were making everyone around them laugh when they kept saying, "tickle, tickle" to the chicks.
We made it back in time just to see Shelbi sell her lamb. Quincy bought it with the help of his company again. We also saw Grandpa Haworth in action whack his cane when bids come in.
After the auction we were faired out! So we headed home back to the city.
It was a wonderful weekend and we know the kids will be talking about it for weeks!
