This Easter season I made countdown with fun activities for the kids to do each day until the Easter bunny showed up. I found this cute holder last year at Target after the holiday so I was excited to see it when I got all the Easter decor out this year. I vinyled numbers on each egg then stuffed them with Cadbury eggs and a daily activity. Jensen had spring break right before Easter so I knew that this would motivate me to be a fun mommy while he was home all day.
Lucy would remind me each day about it. She liked the candy the most.
One of the activities was a plastic egg picnic lunch. I wanted to go to the park for this but it was a windy day so we did it inside. Jensen is still a picky eater and didn't join in on the fun.
We made egg-shaped sugar cookies.
And decorated them.
Went to an Easter story time at the library with the Kanets and even made this cute craft.
But the one I was looking forward to the most was making birds nests. I love these things and they remind me of my Easter's growing up.
We did try to go to an egg hunt at Town Square with Grandma and Grandpa for our last activity, but it was complete chaos. I have heard stories and now I know. They still passed out candy to those that didn't know that you had to be there at 5a.m. to register your child for an egg hunt. Luckily, Lucy and Jensen didn't care because their Easter baskets got full anyway.
On Sunday morning the kids got up and found that the Easter bunny had come. When I asked Lucy who came (thinking her response would be the Easter bunny), she said Grandma and Grandpa. We were so happy that they came to celebrate Easter at our house. Lucy is really good at finding eggs.
Grandpa even said the Easter bunny left some money eggs. Jensen found both of them. He always does. He shared some dollars with his sister on his own, such a good brother.
The Easter bunny left baskets for the kids too. Jensen was super excited when he saw two new cars in his basket. Jeff Corvette and Miles Axelrod. He of course wouldn't put them down even to go to his Sunbeam class or even the pictures below.
The Easter weekend went way too fast and my parents were on their way before I knew it. They repeated a quote my Grandpa Knudsen would say, "Guests and fish should be thrown out after three days." Well I didn't want to throw them out and I hope that doesn't apply to me and my kids when we visit because we are staying a week next time!
