Boys Go Camping

 Quincy took Jensen to Father and Sons a weekend or two ago up at Mack's Canyon at Mount Charleston. Jensen had a great time. He loves being outside and he enjoyed playing with the other kids from our ward. There was a dog up there that he wasn't too sure about but he loved that someone had brought a potato gun and a catapult.

 

I sent my camera with Quincy and was surprised to see that he actually used it.

 

The Walker Tent - It was warm that night so they didn't even have to put on the rain fly/protector.

 

 

Quincy said by the end of the night he was pretty much on the ground. I guess our air bed has a hole in it. Jensen didn't stir but Quincy didn't get too much sleep. The ward served breakfast burritos and then the boys headed home. They were home before ten the next morning.

 

 

Quincy asked Lucy what we did while they were gone. She looked at me and giggled and told him it was a secret. She didn't want me to get in trouble. We had actually went shopping and Lucy out shopped me. She kept saying one more store mom. I was so worn out and hungry but kept pressing on because I didn't want to let Lucy down. After Lucy and I got home I put Lucy to bed and started Downtown Abby. I was hooked and couldn't stop watching for a week or two until I had watched all three seasons.

Grandma and Grandpa Are Going on a Mission!

 

Grandma and Grandpa Haworth have been waiting patiently to serve an LDS mission. They had hoped to get their papers turned in by the first of the year but with health concerns from the doctor and other reasons they were delayed. They finally got to turn them in at the end of March and got their call in April. This is grandpa holding his mission call ready for the party to start to open his fate. They both were like kids in a candy store so ready to know where they would be for the next eighteen months of their lives. They were able to open their call in front of their family either live in person or on their phones.

 

 

They were called to serve in Des Moines, Iowa.

 

They were to leave just one month from receiving their call. So on short notice Di and I were put on table decorations for their farewell. We went with the missionary scripture that goes along with the field is white and ready to harvest since they were serving in farming country. We decorated with wheat and corn seeds. Di made the cute Iowa state maps for each table that said Elder and Sister Haworth. I made the little Book of Mormon treasure wrappers. I didn't get a close up because I forgot my camera. Actually I stole most of these pictures from Di because I didn't have it that day. 

 

 

We also had a big map for everyone to sign for them to take on their mission to remember we are here supporting them.

 Yay for Missionaries!

 

 

The two youngest grandkids as of right now. When they come back our little baby will be over a year old and who knows maybe there will be another one? (Big hint Jen and Anthony!)

 We also spent Memorial Day with them before they left. We did get to help them pack up some of their house. What a sacrifice to leave your house behind for a mission. They will be renting it while they are gone so all of their stuff had to go in storage (Kev and Di's garage). We did get to have one last BBQ and a swim at the Res before they left.

 

 

  A week before they left they did their rounds and stopped to visit one more time. Jensen and Lucy love to point out where they are going on their mission on the United States map. We are sure going to miss them but glad we can call and even visit them.  

 

 

 

One last hug!

 

  Grandma and Grandpa drove up to the Provo MTC with their SUV packed to the brim and reported on June 10th. They were there for one week. Then they made their trek east to Iowa. They were able to train as tour guides at Nauvoo this past week which was a highlight to Sharon since her parents (Glen and Alice Jensen) served there on their LDS mission. We are looking forward to hearing all about their missionary efforts in Iowa!

 

Lucy's Graduation from Pre Pre Pre School

 

Lucy had graduation from preschool last week. Most of the kids in her class are off to Kindergarten next year. Because of Lucy's birthday being in October she still has two more years of preschool. I am so thankful that Crystal agreed to have her in her school this year. She has loved it and has already missed not going this past week. And honestly I have missed it too.

 

Her teacher held her graduation at the local library auditorium. Crystal was crazy and had three different classes this year. So it was a party with all those kids and parents to celebrate.

 

 

 

 

For the graduation program the kids sang their favorite songs from the year. This is Lucy's favorite song. She still sings it all the time. She would even get Quincy to sing along. He doesn't know the words so he would make up his own. He even got Lucy to sing those words most of the time. Luckily she sang the right words at the program.

 

 

Crystal had also asked each kid what they wanted to be when they grew up and what was their favorite part about preschool.

 

Lucy said she wanted to be a witch when she grew up (Crystal thankfully left out the part 'just like my mom' ;).

Her favorite part was playing with everything.

 

She really is going to miss Crystal and preschool. Hopefully she can have her again next year for pre-pre school.

 

 

 

 

 

Someone liked the cupcakes!

Splash Pads & Ouch!

It's splash pad time here in Vegas. Anything to keep you cool with it already hitting 100 degrees.

 

One night we headed to Town Square for shopping and just thought we would let the kids play on the playground. They were running through the splash pads before we knew it fully clothed. They were shivering all the way home.

 

 

The next time we came prepared. 

 The kids kept themselves busy for quite awhile while Quincy and I ate our Chinese Take-out as we watched. But the sun set and it did get a little chilly. So we got the kids dried off and headed to the playground.

 

This is a before shot of Jensen. He stepped wrong on a stair and got the worst bloody nose ever. It was coming down both nostrils. We were worried that he broke it.

Quincy says this looks like a mug shot. Poor kid. We don't think he broke it because he did stop crying eventually, but the next day it was really black and blue. It stayed that way for a week. Poor guy. Hopefully our next trip to the splash pad is very uneventful.

Mom's Day 2013

The kids said some funny things about their mom this year so I thought I better write them down before I forget them.

 

A couple of days before Mother's Day Quincy was asking the kids who was the best mom. Jensen pointed to me and said "This guy".

 

Lucy made me a cute card in preschool. Her teacher said she wrote down exactly what Lucy said to her questions.

My mom works hard at: mailing pictures. I have to help.

Jensen filled out a card during primary. This is what he said.

My mom is 14 years old.

My mom spends most of her day working.

The best thing my mom cooks is pizza bagels.

My favorite thing to do with my mom is going to Costco.

I love my mom because she plays with me.

 

These two bring lots of joy into my life even though they wear me out most days. I can't believe next year I will be a mother of three!
