Valley of Fire Anyone?
Monday holidays usually end up just being a normal work day for Quincy. However, this Presidents Day somehow I talked him into going to Valley of Fire for a picnic with the cousins. Maybe it helped that Kevin, his brother, took the day off too. Whatever it was we are glad because we had a wonderful day. The weather was a perfect 60 degrees, no wind, just perfect. {I know I said perfect twice in that last sentence but that's what it was.}
When we got there the cousins were waiting for us to start a hike to Mouse's Tank. It is just a short 1/2 mile hike round trip to see a natural watering hole. The best news Jensen and Lucy walked the whole way without complaining. Jensen wanted to follow the cousins everywhere on the rocks. He was forgetting that he was four and having to hear his Mother Bear yell at him often.
After our hike we had a picnic while the kids continued to play on the rocks. Jensen entertained all of the picnic-ers as he dropped his pants on the rocks and peed like the natives probably did. He has no shame. We played some football before heading to our next stop in Valley of Fire.
Atlatl Rock was the next stop. It has petroglyphs that you have to hike to. Jensen and Lucy were half way up the stairs before we even got out of the car. The open sided staircase made Mother Bear even more nervous.
Last stop of the day was the Beehives. These are mountains that resemble beehives of course. This was a great spot to play since it had lots of little caves for the kids to climb in. Glad Lucy likes to play along in the picture game . She has some Knudsen in her for sure. Jensen continued to follow the cousins hiking all around. He did pretty good if just his mom would trust him a little bit more.
Today was full of great memories with the cousins and Grandma and Grandpa Haworth. We will sure miss them when they get that mission call and are gone for a year. Both kiddos fell asleep on our way back into town. That is how a good day is measured for sure at our house.

Lucy loves Preschool and More
This girl loves preschool. She will ask every morning if it is preschool day. When it is preschool she walks right in and doesn't even act like she knows me at the door. No sad goodbyes from this girl. She loves her teacher, Crystal. She talks about her all the time and always wants to take her random toys that she finds at home. They other day Quincy asked her what she did at school and she just shrugged her shoulders. Quincy said she was responding like a teenager already.
At Lucy's preschool they offered to have their pictures done. We just got their pictures done at Christmastime so I was a little hesitant to pay for more pics, but I am so glad I did. Lucy's teacher Crystal has a sister that takes pics and she did a great job! I thought I would share what Lucy is up to between the cute pictures.
Lucy has her own Lucy-isms.
When she doesn't know the answer she says "I can't know". Crystal even wrote this on her report card that she loves when she says this. Her other one is "Last morning". Anything that happened in the past doesn't matter if it was yesterday or two weeks ago she says, "Last morning".
She loves music and loves to sing.
Her favorite songs are "Love You Like a Love Song Baby", The Muppets, the Tangled soundtrack, and most songs on the radio. She will climb up on the counter and start listening to music on her own. She entertains us with her DJ skills.
She is Jensen's second Mom for sure.
She will boss him around and even throw out fake things that I say. She will tell him Mom said, "Too much ipod Jensen." When I didn't even know he was on the ipod. She does that to her dad too.
She loves to draw, color, cut and paint.
This will keep her busy for 20 minutes and she usually makes a big mess in that short amount of time.
She loves to be read stories.
At bedtime this is what motivates her to get ready for bed. She is into Disney Princesses, Dora, and any other new book we recently got from DI.

She knows all of her letters but gets b and d mixed up sometimes.
She can count to twelve, skips thirteen and then can count to twenty, then skips to 100.
She definitely has a sweet tooth.
A little too much actually. When I am busy working I will come down and see candy wrappers on the table and it isn't even 9:00.
She is a Sunbeam this year in Primary and I am her teacher.
It is a new calling for me but I have enjoyed being her teacher most of the time. She loves to raise her hand in class and can't wait until it is time to give a talk. She has two of her favorite friends in her class, Jaycee and Sophie.
Lucy is also excited about her new ballet class.
Ellie and Reagan signed up for a class and asked Lucy if she wanted to come with them. I didn't know if she would like it but she LOVES it. It is only once a week and it is the highlight of her week for sure. Last week, Lucy and I were running some errands and we couldn't resist a new necklace and tutu for class.
