Are You a Sports Fan?

 

The Kanets got brave and said that they wanted to do a babysitting trade. Obviously we didn't turn them down. Since working at home full-time, a night out with my one and only always sounds like a wonderful idea. I thought I would let Quincy pick something that he wanted to do on our date night since I have dragged him shopping a time or two.

 

There is a new sports fan museum that opened in the Luxor that Quincy wanted to check out. They told us that we couldn't take any pictures in here. Quincy wasn't too happy about this rule. So these are all totally illegal shots taken from my purse. I was trying to be so sly but I am sure they were watching me take them and luckily they looked the other way.

 

Anyway we saw some really cool sports memorabilia. They had game used uniforms of Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Mickey Mantle, Wilt Chamberlain, Michael Jordan, and Larry Bird, etc... Also, Marcus Allen's Heisman trophy, Superbowl rings, old footballs and basketballs, shoes from Shaq, you name it, it was there. So some of the stuff we have pictures of, the others we don't since our tour guide was too close to us to snap a picture.

 

 

 

 

After every sport they let you have a hands on activity with that sport. Quincy and I weren't too interested in the hockey section but we did try to see if we could complete a hockey relay. Hockey is so not my sport I couldn't even complete it in normal shoes let alone hockey skates.

 

 

Another hands on but with Nascar, we thought Jensen would of loved this!

We didn't get kicked out of the museum like I thought we might of. Yay for us and yay for date night!

 

Bowling 101

For date night with the kids we decided to take them bowling. I think this was only their second time ever to bowl. Quincy and I spent many date nights in the bowling alley while dating. Which brings up one of our favorite Lucille Ball sayings, "Ever since I said 'I do', there are so many thing we don't!" Put golfing and going to the movies on that list too.

 

Anyways, the kids loved bowling and we will have to take them more often, especially since Quincy beat me by two stinkin' pins.

 

The kids were fun to watch. Lucy tried it on her own the first round. The ball didn't make it and I had to go get a worker to retrieve the ball. After that we made sure we helped give it an extra push. Jensen could bowl on his own. He might of left a dent or two in the lane where he drops the ball. Both of the kids had bumpers and both broke a 100.

 

 

 

 

Jensen kept calling his bowling shoes tennis shoes. He thought they were funny. They really are.

A french fry break, which is now one of Jensen's food groups.  

After, we went to see if we could catch it snowing inside Sam's Town. We just missed it, just our luck. The kids didn't seem to mind since they had such a fun time bowling.

Jersey Night

Quincy got hooked up with free tickets to the 51's game a week or two ago.  It just happened to be free jersey night. One size fits all if you couldn't tell. Lucy was determined to get on the Jumbo Tron shaking her stuff in her jersey. Too bad we only lasted two innings so it didn't happen. The kids got restless so we took off. Just in time too because it started to downpour. Hopefully one day these kiddos will get their parents love of the game.

 

It Finally Came. . .

It finally came in the mail this week. He has been waiting for it for months.

He asked if I could frame it. Sure honey. I'm heading right now to Michaels. ;)

Daddy's Weekend Adventures Part 2

A couple of weekends ago we were sitting around the house and needed an adventure. We weren't sure where we were going but we got in the car anyway. Quincy came up with a great idea. He took us to a baseball park that he had heard of from a coworker. It actually is on our part of town which isn't usually the case.

Now this isn't just any ballpark, this ballpark consists of six fields that are replicas of major league fields. They have softball leagues that play on them. It so took me back to my softball days and I yearned to play again. Complete with my green glove, a bucket of sunflower seeds, my favorite girls laughing as we run out onto the field, sliding into the bases, and pitching. All of it!

(okay maybe not running bases)

One thing on my bucket list is to visit all the Major League ballparks. Quincy joked that we visited five new ones that I haven't been to and in one night too. He is way ahead of me when it comes to visiting ballparks so maybe I need to plan a baseball trip without him this summer.

They also have two different playgrounds for the kids to play on. Jensen just kept climbing the stairs and going down the slide. He loves our family adventures.

To end the night we hit the batting cages. Quincy was an old pro. His little league Chubby Cubby days are paying off. I remembered why I don't play softball anymore on my second swing. An old softball injury came back leaving my arm out of socket. I put it back in place and finished my turn. Next time I will remember to warm up. Ouch! Did that hurt for awhile!

The Kanets invited

us to the UNLV game last weekend against Air Force. It was Jensen's first football game. He sat on his Dad's lap most of the game just smiling and enjoying the game. He was a perfect baby!

The game wasn't bad either except that UNLV lost at the end. Don't worry my family, I am still a true blue - BYU fan. You know just supporting the local team. BYU plays UNLV tomorrow. Hopefully it's a close one for those UNLV fans!

Go Sox!

Thanks to my dad I have this cool Boston Red Sox t-shirt. If it was up to my mom it would be a Brave's T-shirt but since they had a bad season she is okay with me wearing it. Maybe next year. I hope Boston wins it all because when Daddy's happy, I'm happy!

Take Me Out to the Ball Game!

Over Labor Day weekend we took Jensen to his first baseball game. Quincy's former college roommate, David White, had two extra tickets to see the Diamondbacks play the Dodgers. Knowing that Quincy and I are both baseball fans he invited us to stay with him and attend the game. We loaded the car and headed down Friday afternoon. David and Nichole have two cute girls and a baby just two months older than Jensen named Derrek. It was fun to visit them and see their new baby for the first time.

On Saturday afternoon we headed to the game. It was hat night, but as you can see they weren't just plain hats, they were Eric Byrnes hats. He is a player on the Diamondbacks that has blonde curly locks that hang to his shoulders or in other words a MULLET! Jensen was wearing a cute baseball outfit given to him by his Grandma Knudsen, that is until he had two blowouts. Jensen enjoyed the game by taking a nap on mom and trying to eat his toy baseball. The game was great (if you were a Dodgers fan). We got to see Manny Ramirez hit two homeruns, free hats and we even saw a lady try to pull a Fever Pitch move and run across the field, but ended up getting tackled by security guards. After the game we headed home. It was great to get out of Vegas even if it was only for 35 hours.
