Mistle"toes"

For my card club we always mix it up for November and do a Christmas neighbor gift. I usually am stressed over this for weeks but thanks to Pinterest I found an idea quickly and went with it. The Christmas card was the one that was my hold up this year. I did get it done but just the night before the exchange. I actually didn't even make me one so I don't have a picture, maybe that was for the best.

Well I made the cute boxes on my silhouette, cut a mistletoe to hang down and made a tag with the print and cut feature. Oh how I love my cameo! But I am sure you knew that already.

Can't wait to paint my own Mistle "toes".

Too Much Snow?

First of all, I am just glad to have some pictures of our weekend up in Utah. Four hours before departing to Utah I wanted to take a picture of Jensen. He had gotten into his dad's socks and was walking around all silly in them. Camera was no where. I asked Jensen where it was and he kept saying it was in the garbage. I started freaking out. I hadn't taken a picture for a week or two so I was afraid that it had been thrown away already. Plus I didn't know if he was just saying that or if he was telling the truth. Well he was telling the truth. Quincy my hero found it in the trash. Let's just say the camera will no longer sit on the counter next to the garbage. I wonder what else has accidentally got knocked in there.

Secondly and most importantly, I am so glad we made it to Provo for a fun weekend. We had heard that there was going to be a snow storm Friday night in Utah. We were trying to get packed and ready to go to beat it but didn't get off until 4 o'clock. In Cedar City we saw blue skies and laughed at the silly weathermen for the incorrect forecast. Well 30 minutes later we hit black ice and weren't laughing anymore. I don't know if I have ever hit black ice but luckily no other cars were near us so we didn't crash into anyone. After that scare we were going at a snails pace from Beaver to Scipio then again from Spanish Fork to Provo was really bad again. The weather report said that snow tires and chains were advised. We had neither but the Accord made it. T.J. my little brother was coming from the North and had 10 hours in the snow. We are so glad we all made it safely to Provo that night.

When we woke up Saturday morning it was a happy site for all of us. Quincy and I were happy that there was no more snow storm to drive through. Jensen and Lucy were both excited about the snow. They both were too small to remember when it snowed last. It wasn't too long before we heard T.J., Michelle, and the girls on the four-wheeler with the sled being pulled. We got the kids dressed in what snow clothes we had, but some of the main articles of clothing were missing from our Las Vegas wardrobes. I didn't have a pair of gloves or winter boots for any of us, but the kids didn't seem to mind at first anyway. After a few runs, all the family finally showed up to share in the Snow Day.

Jensen was either on the four-wheeler/snowmobile or being pulled by the sled. He didn't want to miss out on the fun. He also had a "perma-grin" the whole time as his Aunt Michelle said.

Lucy being a little more reserved just enjoyed eating the snow. She would white wash herself by putting her whole face in the snow and taking a bite. I did get her on the sled but the only way she was going is if I went with her. I was glad I was on this ride because T.J. took us on a nice semi-calm ride.

He wasn't so nice to Jody and the cousins.

After the ride Miss Lucy had had enough so she went in the house to watch a movie.

Not Jensen.

Jensen just kept going and going on rides. He couldn't get enough!

I think he finally realized that his fingers and toes were cold, so he didn't complain when we said it was time to go inside

After we all got warmed up the whole family headed to JCW's for lunch. Yum! After lunch, Quincy and I headed up to Salt Lake to celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary. We had wanted to make a session at the temple and then hit the Jazz game but of course it started snowing again on our way to Salt Lake. We got there too late and settled for a little shopping before the Jazz game.

It had stopped snowing so we walked the four blocks to the Jazz game.

We stood in line to win a t-shirt. Quincy just missed it but did get some lip balm. The game was good as it usually is when the home team wins.

We were so done with the snow after this. We thought we were done with it then but got even more on the following morning as we headed back to Provo. My family always ask if I am going to move back to Provo when I visit. This weekend they knew better not to ask.

Too much snow? YES!

On Sunday, we had a wonderful early Thanksgiving dinner with the whole family. I am so thankful for them and glad we all got to be together. I am grateful that my mom and dad watched my kids while Quincy and I enjoyed our anniversary together, alone.

 The next day we were glad to be heading back to warm Vegas. Grandma and Grandpa Knudsen bought the kids a present at the Disney store before we left. Jensen kept thinking it was his birthday. Lucy and Jensen might be sold on living in Provo, their parents not so much.

Halloween Traditions Old & New

 

This year was the first year that we attempted to carve pumpkins with the kids. It turned out that they mostly watched while Quincy and I took over. Next year I think they will use stickers to decorate the pumpkins. We only carved them a week before Halloween and I threw them out the day before Halloween. I wasn't really into the moldy pumpkins for my Halloween decor.

 

 

 

 

 

 Lucy wanted to be a witch when we first asked her back in August what she wanted to be. But of course it changed a time or two. Like she wanted to be a shoe? Luckily, Tayla her cousin had a witch costume that she could borrow. Once she put it on she was set with a witch. Jensen on the other hand started off with a bat and then the last week he finally settled on Iron Man. So much for family themed costumes. Jensen was so excited to be Iron Man and wanted to wear it everyday. He kept pulling it off the hanger in his closet breaking the hangers every time seeing if today was the day that he could wear it. So maybe it was a good thing I gave up the matching costumes.  They both were happy with their picks.

 

 

We headed to the Rec Center for the Spooktacular party that the kids enjoyed last year. We went late due to a meeting that I had. We still got to hit some of the games before it was over but next year we are for sure hitting this right when it starts. I wanted the kids to pose by this blown up black cat. Jensen thought that he could sit on it. Silly kid.

 

 

 

 

 

Jensen was cracking up the kids with his dribbling and basketball skills. Let's just say they gave him a candy for his efforts.

 

 

Lucy had her own preschool party held on Nevada Day so Jensen and I crashed the party and watched. Lucy got to paint a mini pumpkin, make a mask, do a cookie walk, and read stories. She got enough treats to give her 3 cavities. It was good one of the moms came prepared with toothbrushes to hand out.

 

 

My kids are finally getting old enough where they want to do crafts. Yippee! One night when we didn't have too much going on so we made some finger puppets.

 

 

 

 

 

We are always so lame for our ward's Trunk or Treat, so this year we were just one step up from being lame. Instead of just parking our car and opening our empty trunk like we have in the past, I thought this year we better have a theme. My kids didn't have a theme in their costumes so by golly we were going to have a trunk theme. I didn't want to buy anything or have any time to make anything, so I pulled out some old party stuff from Jensen's first birthday party. We hung Jensen's hoop in the trunk, put some mini lights in the hanging basketballs (which are easter eggs), dressed Quincy in an old ref shirt that he had and called it good. I didn't want to dress up but knew that was the only way to get Quincy to play along. I looked like a thug in Q's old jerseys. What I will do to have a theme!

The kids that came by had to earn their candy by shooting. We had a line backed up but that was good to slow down the madness.

 

 

Lucy was done with one trip around the parking lot. She ended up sitting in the car looking over what candy she got. Jensen helped daddy pass out the candy and hand the kids the basketball. 

 

 

My two preschoolers in their Halloween shirts. Jensen started to get sick on Halloween but still went to preschool. I told his teacher to call me if he was too sick. He made it the whole time in his costume. He was so happy to finally get to wear it again.

 

Later after school and when Daddy got home from work, we headed out to Logandale to go trick or treating with the cousins. First, we had an amazing Louisiana inspired dinner made by Grandma and Grandpa Haworth. The kids were served pizza which left more for us!

Jensen didn't want to stop riding his scooter for a picture. Just like the good old days.

 

 

So we compromised and had a shot with the scooter. I am sure Iron Man rides a scooter in his movies.

 

 

We hit the trunk or treat at the fair grounds and then went real trick or treating. Lucy and Jensen both were tired after knocking on the doors of one neighborhood. City kids.  

 

 

 

Pumpkin Candy buckets are full. I think the kids had a very successful Halloween Season.

U-N-L-V Rebels!

Last week we hit the Scarlet and Gray Scrimmage at the Thomas and Mack. We were due for an outing as a family and it was a hit. Pregame they had a bounce house and other things for the kids to do. Jensen was all over that. He would get kicked out and would go right back in. Since Lucy prefers to bounce by herself she just hung out with her cool parents.

 

Both kids were really afraid of the giant rebel that was walking around. After pointing out that other kids were getting their picture taken with him Lucy finally agreed to have a photo taken. On one condition, that I hold her. When I tried to get Jensen in the shot he totally ran away. There was no talking him into a picture.

 Kev and his boys and Mike Kanet and his girls showed up to join in the fun. All the other wifers some how got a free pass from the game. What?

 Jensen finally got close to one of the walking balloon men. He still wouldn't go in front of the Rebel though. Christmas card shot blown.

 

 

Since the whole event was open to the public we could sit anywhere we wanted to. We took up a whole row and let the kids enjoy moving from seat to seat. 

 

These two boys were crazy men. Laughing, screaming, and even dancing during the whole program. 

 The night consisted of player introductions, dunk contest, the Legends game, and then the UNLV team scrimmage. Looks like we are going to have a good team this year.

 

We are so glad Mike came prepared with his ipad for the kids to play with or we would have been out of there sooner. Let's just say Ellie was a popular girl, wherever she went two would follow.

We did make it to the end of the game. Lucy decided to wave good-bye to everyone while we were getting ready to leave. Maybe she can be a UNLV usher someday. Earlier when I had asked her if she wanted to be a cheerleader or a basketball player, she said basketball player. She made her parents smile.

 

It's crazy to think that Dantley will be down on the court next year.
